2015-08-15 - Updated through online information from Steve Bartley. -- New Organ for Holy Innocent's Church. The Vestry of the Protestant Episcopal Church of the Holy Innocents, Rev. J. H. Logie, rector, has contracted with George H. Ryder & Co, of Boston, Mass, for a fine large organ. <br><br>The instrument is now being built, and will be used for the first time on Easter Sunday. It will be paid for and presented to the church by the ladies of the congregation. Sun Paper 1/30/1890 pg 6.<br><br>New Organ of Holy Innocent's Church. The organ built by George H. Ryder & Co., of Boston, for the Holy Innocent's Protestant Episcopal Church, Eden & Chase streets, is being placed in position, and will be ready for use at the Easter service. The organ cost $2500. <br><br>It has two manuals or keyboards of sixty one notes each and a pedal of twenty seven notes. The case is black walnut, with front pipes finished in nickel, bronze, and gold leaf to harmonize with architecture of the church.<br><br>There are four stops to the great organ, nine to the swell organ and one to the pedal organ and five to the mechanical. There are 549 pipes. The pedal movement consists of one octave coupler to the great organ and two balance-swell pedal. Every stop is complete in itself.<br><br>The organ stands in the corner at the left of the chancel. The tone is pronounced to be fine in every respect. 4/4/1890 pg 6 -Database Manager
