2023-04-05 - This was an electrification and renovation of the historic Walcker two-manual mechanical-action organ. The Walcker-Hall was discarded in the 1970s when the church opted to purchase a large 4-manual electrone instead of renovating the hundred-year-old pipe organ. The chamber was reduced in size and the Walcker case was removed from the impost up, and the whole covered up by a false wall and grill that was part of a contemporary "modernization" of the historic chancel. The speakers of the imitation were placed in the rebuilt chamber behind the new grill. As of 2023, the imitation which has lasted for less time that either preceeding pipe organ is now barely functional. The church is again faced with having to spend money on another organ. -Scot Huntington
2023-04-16 - Correction: the Walcker was three manuals and the imitation was installed in the mid-60s. After the imitation was installed and the new wall was built in front of the old chamber, the pipework was left in place for some time, finally being removed in the mid-80s "by an organbuilder from Rhode Island", believed to be Ray Whelan. -Scot Huntington
