2024-08-17 - The organ was dedicated on March 7, 1920, as announced in "Nathanial [sic] Harding Memoriel [sic] Organ Will Be Dedicated on Tomorrow at St. Peter's Episcopal Church," Washington (NC) Daily News, Saturday afternoon, March 6, 1920, 3, Newspapers.com, https://www.newspapers.com/image/1046186426 (see under "Documents"). The Hall organ was replaced by an Allen electronic organ in 1958, as reported in "St. Peter's Church to Dedicate Organ," Washington (NC) Daily News, Tuesday afternoon, March 18, 1958, 1, Newspapers.com, https://www.newspapers.com/image/1046196257: "St. Peter's Episcopal church announces a service of dedication of its new $25,000 Allen electronic organ to be held Sunday, March 23, at 5:30 o'clock in the afternoon. This new organ replaces the Hall pipe organ purchased in 1919 and dedicated March 7, 1920, in memory of the Rev. Nathaniel Harding. The Hall organ was a three manual electric pipe organ and was built by the Hall Organ Co. of West Haven, Conn., at a cost of $10,000, installed." The fate of the Hall organ is unknown. -Charles Eberline
