Notes

2005-09-13 - Identified through online information from Keith S. Toth. -- Casavant Freres opus 3837 for The Brick Presbyterian Church in New York City (Park Avenue at 91st Street) was designed by Jean-Louis Coignet and Keith S. Toth. It is strongly modeled after the French Symphonic instruments built by Aristide Cavaillé-Coll in his late period (1870's onward). All pipe construction and voicing techniques, chest layouts, swell boxes, and winding system follow the Cavaillé-Coll tradition. The terraced console with angled terraces and oblique stop knobs is patterned after those built by the Casavant firm in the early part of the 20th century. The organ was installed and voiced during May-August 2005. Casavant voicers Jean-Sébastien Dufour and Yves Champagne worked under the guidance of Jean-Louis Coignet, Jacquelin Rochette and Keith S. Toth. The opening recital will be played by Dutch concert organist Ben van Oosten on November 7, 2005. -Database Manager
