2022-09-12 - The Varsity Theater in Lawrence, Kansas was opened October 26, 1926. It was equipped with a Reuter organ. By 1941, it was operated by Commonwealth Amusement. It was remodelled in 1965 and was closed September 1, 1997. The building is now used as a clothing store. -- *Cinema Treasures website* *Photo caption from Encyclopedia of the Theatre Organ: *"The 3/8 Reuter in the Varsity Theatre in Lawrence, Kansas was undoubtedly a company "show" organ. It featured a full complement of traps and was voiced on 10" wind pressure, the highest ever used by the firm." -Paul R. Marchesano
