2011-12-27 - Updated through online information from Nick Pershey. -- This organ is scheduled to be relocated to the new church building early 2012. Minor refurbishing is all that will be required as this organ is in excellent playing condition (tuning required). Key colors are inverted; i.e. the larger keys ("white keys" on a piano) are black while the sharp/flat keys are white. -Database Manager
2012-08-17 - Updated through online information from Nick Pershey. -- The organ was moved from the old church building into the new church on the same block on Jackson St. Every component was cleaned, polished, and repaired if necessary during reassembly. An update to one of the bellows is planned for the near future. This is a very fine German-Baroque styled instrument. Apart from the inverted key colors (black for naturals, white for sharps), the casework is rather Spartan, but the disposition and voicing compensate so this organ sounds very authentic. The 8', 4', and 2' ranks provide an excellent foundation without over-powering congregational singing. Because the 8' foundations are flutes and the organ has an abundance of 2' and smaller ranks, it produces a very brilliant sound ideal for accurate interpretation of the Baroque repertoire. Couplers from the Positiv to Great and both keyboard divisions to pedal greatly enhance this smaller organ's flexibility. In addition, the Trompet (8') and Fagott (16', Pedal) give this modest size instrument even more options for creative registrations. The people in our parish greatly cherish this instrument as it has enhanced our worship for decades. Fortunately, it has been incorporated into our new worship space so that our rich musical heritage may be passed on to many generations to come! -Database Manager
