2019-01-04 - Updated by Tim Link, who has heard or played the organ. Tim Link also listed this individual as a source of information: Roland Herzel.

From communication with the organist at South Frankfort Presbyterian Church, Roland Herzel, AAGO, on October 9, 2018: \"The 1968 II/12 Reuter has served well, I\'ve been on the bench for +48 of its 50 years.
It is the \'no frills\' model with no general pistons or toe studs except Gt/P. We get by with its modest size, entirely enclosed, because
Reuter generously provided nine couplers - Sw/Gt 16-8-4, Gt/Gt 16-4, Sw/P 8-4 and Gt/P 8-4. The other reason
is that the church has decent acoustics - hard wood floor with a center aisle runner, hard plaster walls and the organ chamber being
center- speaking down the nave. The room seats 240 including 24 seat choir loft, behind which is the organ chamber, divided with
a wall down its middle, the great and pedal being on the left and the swell in its sub enclosure on the right. There are no digital stops,
just 796 pipes. Being away from outside walls helps keep the organ relatively stable, requiring routine maintenance once a year [tuning
is eight weeks away]. When there is only one reed stop [ fagott 16-8-4 ] it must be one which blends with the flue stops; Reuter has built
countless small two manual organs so they know how to voice a single reed both as a solo voice and as a blended ensemble stop.
The twelve ranks are as follows: reed [1] principals [4] flutes [3] strings [2] mixture [II].\" I met Roland at the church on 12/26/18 to see, hear, and play the organ. The organ was donated by the Pennington family and dedicated June 2, 1968. It has been well-maintained in original condition and has been re-leathered once. The organ plays well and it sounds excellent. -Database Manager
