2012-08-07 - Updated through online information from Bruce Ellis. -- I am the Ward Organist for the 21st ward. It is still functioning in its original location. The console was updated to a solid-state action several years ago. -Database Manager
2012-09-26 - Updated through online information from Bruce R. Ellis. -- The pipes are all located front and center of the chapel and are elevated about eight feet above the choir seats. The Great and some of the Pedal pipes are fully exposed. The Swell and some of the Pedal pipes are enclosed in a chamber immediately behind the exposed Great and Pedal pipes. The choir seats are located behind the piano and console which is perpendicular to the choir seats and behind the podium of the chapel. The console has been renovated and updated with a digital control system and memory. The console originally had 3 General preset pistons, 3 Swell presets and 3 Great presets with a reversable Great to Pedal toe stud. All 9 of the preset pistons were converted to general presets and all are "hold and press" resettable. The toe stud was unchanged. The organ originally had only 1 memory level and has been upgraded to 12 memory levels with the first memory level being set and locked with the remaining 11 memory levels remaining unlocked and fully programmable. The original wire type key and pedal contacts were changed to an electromagnetic contact system using the original keys and pedals. The original clicky-clacky air-dump tremolos were changed to another type of tremolo during the rebuild which did not work because the organ was "too stable" and had to be replaced with another air-dump tremolo system which is considerably quieter. The original analog air pressure driven shutter system was updated to a digital electic motor driven shutter system. I still miss the "whoosh" of the old air driven shutter system. I will include more updates as I collect some of the more technical information. There is some unification and "borrowing" on the organ, but nowhere near enough to make it objectionable. -Database Manager
