2022-09-11 - Beverly Dickson, my mother living in Hemet, California, was standing in line at the local post office one day and got talking with a lady next to her in line. Somehow Beverly mentioned how her son (me, Weston Harris) was an organ builder. The lady, Bonnie Clauri, said she had an organ in her home in Palm Springs that needed help. I contacted her and spent an afternoon in very hot Palm Springs fixing air leaks and doing some general fix up on the Wurlitzer in her home. In the same room was another console. Bonnie said that it was from a theatre she knew in her earlier years. It was huge 4-manual console. She said the rest of the organ was in a metal storage container. She said she loved that organ so much that she had to have it when it came out of the theatre. I asked if she had plans for it. She said she wanted to build onto her home, or even build a new home, to house the Wurlitzer and the organ in storage. But she didn't see how that would be possible now. I contacted Art Nisson of the Orange County Theatre Organ Society telling him of the instrument. And then there's the rest of the story that the organ is now at the Stockton Theatre. I heard that there was so much rust on the metal parts from the heat and condensation over the years in the storage container that it was like a rusting ship at the bottom of the ocean.
