Kimball Co. organ in the new church. Stops marked with an asterisk were prepared-for. A new chest for the 17 speaking facade pipes was provided. A new oak console was built by Balcom and Vaughan, but with Klann keyboards, stop rail, coupler slides, and combination action. The shop specification instructions from C.M. 'Sandy' Balcom specifically states, “At this time we are not adding any new pipes...you will adhere strictly to the stops that are marked with an asterisk as Prepared For only and go in accordance to the specification.” However, the attached specification does show the standard 8', 4', 2-2/3', 2' flute unification, but with the 16' extension as prepared-for. In contrast, the B and V opus list gives the 1958 number of ranks as 9, but the orig- inal organ had only 8. If the Swell 8' Stopped Flute was unified as four pitches and the 4' Flute d'Amour eliminated, then the organ would have been only 7 ranks. It seems likely that the Stopped Flute was unified, but the 4' unit stop was elim- inated in favor of the independent 4' Flute d'Amour. The organ was replaced in 1970 with a new Balcom and Vaughan instrument that re- tained only the 1958 console and perhaps some Kimball stopped basses. The subsequent disposition of the electrified Kimball is not documented. Sources: Eugene M. Nye compilation; Balcom and Vaughan files [Received from James R. Stettner 2014-02-10.]
