2021-01-13 - This organ replaced a 1911 Schuelke that was sold to the Second Church of Christ, Scientist. Per News-Press article dated, Aug. 25, 1915, the Bennett organ was divided on each side of the stage with the console in the pit, so Organist Frederic Rowley could play with and direct the orchestra. The organ cost $7,500 and featured a harp, cathedral chimes and an echo division. Rowely was contracted by Bennett to play 12 concerts on their instruments in Illinois and Missouri, and was called to Rock Island to play the initial concert on a $16,000 Bennett organ in the home of John Deere. -David Lewis
