2006-10-16 - Identified through online information from James R. Stettner. -- According to accounts from Balcom and Vaughan personnel, the organist was dissatisfied with the organ because the 8' Spitz Flöte - the softest stop in the organ - was still too loud for quiet times during worship when music was still desired. After much deliberation and some bad feelings, tonal additions and changes were made in 1962. A tenor C, 8' Weiden Pfeife was added to the organ, and several other stoplist unification changes were made. Cost of the addition and changes was $850.00. -Database Manager

ACTION: E-P unit VOICES: 8 STOPS: 27 RANKS: 11 PIPES: 603 NOTES The organ is installed atop a triangular ledge projecting off of the back wall directly above the center aisle. The fist five pipes of the 16' Gedeckt form the focal point of the entirely exposed, symmetrical display of pipes. The organ cost $4,684.00. According to accounts from Balcom and Vaughan personnel, the organist was dissatisfied with the organ because the 8' Spitz Flöte – the softest stop in the organ – was still too loud for quiet times during worship when music was still desired. After some delib- eration and some bad feelings on both sides, tonal additions and changes were made in 1962. On the Great, the tenor C 8' Weiden Pfeife was added in-place of the prepared-for 8' Krummmhorn, and is now the softest stop in the organ. The former 4' Spitz Flöte stop was rewired as a 4' Rohr Flöte borrowed from both the 8' Gedeckt and 2-2/3' Rohr Nasat. The chimes were also added as a memorial gift. A plaque on the console reads: In Memory of BRUCE EDWIN BRANIGEN 1942 – 1959 by Family and Friends On the Positiv, the 8' Gedeckt was rewired an an 8' Rohr Flöte, which – like the Great 4' Rohr Flöte – is borrowed from the 8' Gedeckt and 2-2/3' Rohr Nasat. The original III Cymbel was changed to a II Zimbel. The Pedal remained unchanged. The cost of the addition and changes was $850.00. Sources: B&V opus list and files; JRS; extant, enlarged organ.
