2015-05-30 - Updated by James R. Stettner, based on personal knowledge of the organ. -- The building was later occupied by a Southern Baptist denomination who moved out in the 1960's. The building was facing destruction. Efforts by local advocates saved the building and in 1969 it became The Old Church Society and is run as a concert venue and place for weddings and meetings. The organ lost its original Great 8' Trumpet and Swell 8' Oboe, and the Forte/Piano composition trundles were removed. Those were all later replaced during a 1997 restoration by the Bond firm of Portland, Oregon. -Database Manager

In 1883 building. The oldest original installation in the Northwest.

Calvary Presbyterian Church sold the building in the 1930's; it changed hands several times more, falling upon harder and harder times. In 1968 the Baptist congregation that owned the building moved and the site was destined to become a parking lot. The Old Church Society was formed, obtained the deed to the property and repaired it. The building is in frequent use as a wedding chapel, concert hall and meeting venue.

The organ was made playable in 1968 by Charles Fisk, Barbara Owen and Kenneth Coulter. Richard Bond Organ Builders is currently (1997) restoring the organ.
