2006-11-03 - Identified through online information from James R. Stettner. -- This organ is an absolutely ghastly compilation of chests, pipes, parts, and console from varied sources - installed by an enthusiastic but untrained amateur. The console is Morton. The chests are of unknown provenance. Some pipework is Kilgen from First Presbyterian in Great Falls, Montana. Some pipework is Kimball. Some pipework is homemade. The Clarinet is free-reed and may be Aeolian. -Database Manager

Most of the parts were purchased from Ferdinand, Idaho resident Lester Woodworth who was a former resident of Seattle, Washington, and who bought used pipework and parts from Balcom and Vaughan ad other private sources. On the Great, the 8' Open Diapason is a scale 43 Swell Open Diapason from the 1931 Geo. Kilgen & Son (Opus 4792) at First Presbyterian in Great Falls, Montana. The 8' Flute is a Melodia. The 4' Flute is an old Concert Flute. The 2' Piccolo is an old common metal Fifteenth. The 8' Dulciana appears to be from two different sources. The 8' Trumpet is non-harmonic. The origins of any of this pipework other than the Diapason are unknown. On the Swell, the 16 Bourdon Kimball for the first 12 pipes. Pipes 1-12 of the 8' Gedeckt are also Kimball and bass CC is marked “Seattle” in pencil. The 8' Salicional is also Kilgen and bears the same “4792” mark as the Great 8' Open Diapason. The 8' Voix Celeste is actually a Viole d'Orchestre, and is far too narrow a scale to func- tion well with the Salicional. The 8' Clarinet is a free-reed rank – likely Aeolian - but begins at tenor G and was missing the top 3 trebles when the organ was documented in May, 1995. The 8-4-2 wooden Gemshorn plays from the Swell, but the tablets are actually included with the Great stops. This is the only non-expressive rank and is mounted to the front wall on the right side above the console. The Pedal 16' Bass is a string rank of unknown origin, and the top 7 pipes are missing. The Gemshorn, the 16' Bourdon from note 13 and up; the 8' Gedeckt from note 13 and up, and part of the 2-2/3' Twelfth [the open wood pipes] are all homemade pipework by Mr. Harral. The console is Robert Morton of unknown origins. The two adjacent sets of expression louvers are joined by a very Rube Goldberg arrange- ment and operated by steel cable and pulleys.
