2006-12-04 - Updated through online information from James R. Stettner. -- The origins of this used organ are in conflict. It is often said to have been Estey Op 579, 1908 which was originally built for the Dream Theatre in Seattle, WA. But that organ was only a standard 2-9 of: Gt: 8-8-8-4; Sw: 8-8-4-8; and Ped: 16. It seems unlikely that Estey would have enlarged this organ with its atttached projecting keydesk to a 3-man. instrument and a clearly different case. It seem much more likely that this is opus 981, 1912 originally built for James Clemmer and the Clemmer Theatre in Seattle. That organ was enlarged with a 4-rank Echo division and supposedly a new 4-man. console ca. 1916. The extant picture of the console at St. Joseph's is clearly an Estey console. And clearly has 5 divisions. Plus, a stoplist in the files of Bill Bunch gave the specifications of independent register/stops. Also coincidentally, the original 3-manual Clemmer was supposed to have been 28 ranks. The organ at St. Joseph's with the Echo was 28 ranks. And the Echo division is a 4-rank division as that added to the Clemmer. Regardless, the organ was removed at an unspecified time and its subsequent disposition is unknown. It is believed to have been removed by organ technician George Graham of Spokane. -Database Manager

2007-06-19 - Updated through online information from James R. Stettner. -- The geographical Estey Opus List as published by the builder indicates that it was indeed Op. 981 [1912] from Seattle's Clemmer Theatre that was relocated to St. Joseph's R.C. in Yakima. Opus 579, 1908 in Seattle's Dream Theatre (a 2/9) was relocated to St. Joseph's R.C. in Seattle. -Database Manager

2008-01-30 - Updated through online information from James R. Stettner. -- The Balcom and Vaughan Master Opus List also confirms that the original Estey was from the Clemmer Theatre, not from the Dream Theatre. It also indicates that the organ was electrified at the time of its moving to and reinstallation in St. Joseph's. -Database Manager
