2006-12-15 - Identified through online information from James R. Stettner. -- This was a major rebuild and enlargement of the existing 1938 Estey/Balcom and Vaughan organ. The organ was moved to its present location in a chamber on the front, left side of the chancel. A new, exposed Great was added. And a Voix Celeste and Hautbois were added to the Swell. -Database Manager

2012-08-02 - Updated through online information from Jesse Zylstra. -- This organ is in regular use and is in great condition. It is well maintained and regularly tuned. The acoustic space does not provide much (if any) reverb, but the sound is still impressive. This is overall a very nice instrument. -Database Manager

The original size of the Irvington Theatre installation was II-manuals and 10-ranks. It had an Estey patented "luminous console" and cost $10,036.00. A current (1991) church welcome pamphlet and the Balcom and Vaughan opus list state that the 1938 organ had 4 ranks - the Open Diapason, Gedeckt [Stopped Diapason], Salicional, and Dulciana now in the Swell chamber. The 1970 enlargement included moving the instrument from behind the lectern to its present location. In the Swell, the chests and most of the pipes are Estey. The Hautbois unit was added in 1970. The 1-3/5' Tierce is from the Gedeckt unit, and only plays for 57 notes - CC thru g# 57. The Pedal 16' Gedeckt is the same as the 16' Bourdon, but notes 1-12 are on "soft wind". The exposed Great is entirely new. The Dulciana is Gottfried pipework. The beautiful, carved frontal between the Great and the Swell chamber was done by parishioner Leon Denham.
