ACTION: E-P - Austin Universal Windchests ™ VOICES: 28 STOPS: 36; inc. chimes RANKS: 33 PIPES: 1,990 NOTES At the time of the rebuild in 1986, a new, unenclosed Great chest was added to hold the new 4-stop Principal chorus (8, 4, 2, IV). The original Great chest was left enclosed and expressive; however, some tonal changes were made. The original 8' First Open Diapason was removed, and a new 8' Bourdon substituted in its place. The original 8' Claribella Flute was also removed and a new 4' Nachthorn put in its place. The original 4' Wald Flute was also removed, but without substitution. The Pedal division was augmented by adding a new principal unit at 8' and 4' on a new chest. Also new to the Pedal were the III Mixture and the 16' Posaune on new chests. Additional work included a rebuilding of the console combination action at the factory to better suit the new specifications. A new rectifier was provided. All new action units were installed. The three expression engines were factory rebuilt, and the main regulator was rebuilt. Tonal finishers spent one week regulating the old pipes. The Swell 8' Vox Humana is on its own chest and has a separate tremolo which is automatically activated when the stop is registered. [Received on line from James R. Stettner April 20, 2009.]
