2021-12-16 - Richmond Dispatch July 25, 1886 & Richmond Dispatch Oct 3, 1886 Roosevelt Organ Company's Baltimore branch, Adam Stein manager, contracted to overhaul and renovate the 1867 organ, at 1st. Baptist, Richmond. The article says the organ had always been difficult to play, and the renovation wouldy remedy this error. Also the woodwork in the upper part of the facade would be replaced with a display of pipes, which would help the sound to get out. The key action would be "modernized" all interal parts cleaned & repaired, the pipes revoiced and tuned, In the October 3 paper, the writer says says the renovations to the organ have been made, and renovations to the choir, followed by a statement that the organ is the largest south of the Potomac (river), so it is unclear if the writer was reffering to a Choir division or singers. -Steven Bartley
