2012-02-08 - Updated through online information from Timothy Tikker. -- The main organ is located in a chamber at the right side of the nave (just over the side entry doors), with a pipe façade dating from 1984. The Choir is located in an alcove in the left side of the chancel, facing center, with its 8' Prestant unenclosed and in the façade from low G# (the Prestant's low C-G are common with the Flûte ouverte). The Antiphonal is located on the rear gallery rail, its Trompette en chamade placed on the rear wall on two chests to either side of the central rear window. The Echo organ is enclosed in a chamber in the rear gallery area. The Great 2-2/3' Nasat starts at c0; the Great also has a 4' Klarine, extended from the 8' Trompete. The Swell 2-2/3' Nazard and 1-3/5' Tierce both begin at c0; the 2' Octavin is a principal rank. All manuals (even those with super couplers) now have 61 notes on the chests (the Aeolian-Skinner reportedly had 73 notes for divisions with super couplers). The Choir Erzähler Celeste begins at c0; the 1-1/3' Quinte is flute scaled. The Positiv Sesquialtera II is flute scaled and begins at c0. The Solo 4' Clarion is unified from the 8' Trumpet; this rank has only 61 pipes. The Antiphonal Trompette en chamade has a double-ranked flue treble g#'''-c''' at 8' + 4' pitch. The Echo 8' Unda Maris begins at c0. The Pedal 32' Subbass Harmonics presently is wired as an ordinary resultant from the 16' Diapason. The 16' Principal & 8' Octavebass are a unit, ditto the 16' Subbass, 8'Gedecktbass and 4' Holzflöte (all stopped); ditto the 4' & 2' Octaves; ditto the 32'& 16' Bombardes and 8' Trompette (32' octave is half-length); ditto the 16' Posaune and 8' Trompete; the Swell 16' & 8' Bourdon borrows are a unit. The Pedal 32' Harmonics are derived from the Subbass and Octave units; the low twelve notes engage an array of pitches, apparently: 6-2/5' 4-4/7' 3-5/9' 3-1/5' 2-10/11' (since the true eleventh harmonic is a quarter-tone, the effect of the derived pitch here is completely unsuccessful). From tenor C on up at least the two highest pitches of this array are omitted. The Pedal 16' Echo Bourdon in an independent rank located in the Echo chamber. -Database Manager
2017-11-24 - Updated by Charles Kennedy, who has heard or played the organ. <br> <br>I am writing to correct the statement that "The organ has been relocated and is no longer at this location." In fact, the organ is still very much in place at St. Paul's Church, Flint, and was featured in a number of recitals during the 2016-2017, which can be accessed here: http://www.stpaulschurchflint.com/2016-17-music-at-st-paul-s. -Database Manager
