NOTES
The pipework was from the 1914, IV-manual Kimball originally built for the Clemmer
Theatre in Spokane, and later moved into the new Episcopal Cathedral of St. John the
Evangelist where it remained until they contracted fora new Aeolian-SKinner.

Balcom and Vaughan supplied a new console, new shutters, new tremolos, new regulators,
and new Orgelectra rectifier. The reed ranks were also new.

The spare stoptablets in each division were planned for the following stops:

    Great Swell Choir
    8 Open Flute 61 4 Principal 73 8 Unda Maris (tc) 61
    8 Gemshorn 61 4 Koppel Flute 61
       Chimes 2 Piccolo 61

With these planned additions the organ would have had 21 voices, 33 stops, 21 ranks, and
1,408 pipes. The chimes were to be used Deagan chimes with a Maas action. The additional
cost would have been $2,510.00 on top of the $10,000.00 contract price, and included
having the 4' Koppel Flute and the Great 2-2/3' Twelfth and 2' Fifteenth exposed on a
chest in front of the Great/Choir expression louvers.

In 1987-88, organ builder Rene Marceau of Portland, Oregon built an essentially new organ
for St. Michael's, which utilized 9 of the 15 ranks from the 1960 Balcom and Vaughan
installation. The Great division was moved out of the Choir chamber and placed in a free-
standing case of red oak with the 8' Prinzipal of polished tin and flamed copper en
façade with the 8' Trompette-en-Chamade below. Further tonal changes and addition were
made in 1991.
