Notes

2007-04-25 - Identified through online information from Carol Williamson Ness. -- My father, James Bernard Williamson, Jr., was the organist and choir director at First Presbyterian Church in Lynchburg in 1952 when the church erected a new church building on VES Road in Lynchburg. He designed the pipe organ for the church. The organ was built by M. P. Möller Company, Hagerstown, Maryland. The console is located on front left side of santuary at a level lower than the floor - Organists steps down into "pit" facing the back of the sanctuary. The large pipes were added in the 1970s at the back of the church santuary high up on the walls. I am sorry that this is not more technical, but my father was a great musician. He was blind, and he built a couple of organs in our basement, and designed this organ for our church. He died at age 39, in 1953. I think I can find more information. I believe it is a significant organ, so I hope someone that knows organs can take a look at it or hear it. -Database Manager

2009-02-25 - Updated through online information from Jeff Scofield. -- 3-stop Antiphonal added by Möller in 1979; very unsuccessful, it was revoiced in the late 1990's; there have been many additions and the organ sounds excellent. -Database Manager
