Notes

2007-04-29 - Identified through online information from James R. Stettner. -- The Highlands Parish is inside "The Highlands," which is a private, gated community in NW Seattle. The church is actually The Florence Henry Chapel, and is operated under the auspices of nearby St. Dunstan's. The Kimball was installed in a deep chamber on the left side of the chancel with a large, non-speaking facade. A small dummy facade in an arch was also visible around the corner to the left which allowed for tonal egress of the two 16' Pedal ranks at the back of the organ. The organ was rather poorly and partially electrified by Northwest Organ Service at some time in the past - probably the 1970s. This had rendered the organ somewhat mechanically unreliable. But it was Seattle's last Kimball in its original home and tonally unaltered. The Oboe had been cleaned and restored by Herb Heustis in recent years. The priest from St. Dunstan's has a penchant for trackers, and the Kimball was sold and replaced with a new Brombaugh instrument in 2005. A local Seattle organist bought the Kimball, but never did anything with it. The Kimball was sold-off in ranks and pieces and has been completely dispersed. -Database Manager
