2019-08-21 - Updated by Steven Bartley, who maintains the organ.

The original Moller installation included older pipework. While the chests were solidly built, the expression boxes were made with large sheets of 1/2 thick MDF. No reinforcements were included, making a very tenuous situation for the technician.
In 2012 a local organist/technician was hired to make many changes and additions. This work was carried out with marginal planning & workmanship. The flimsy walls of the enclosures have been pressed into being the weight carrying elements for the several of the newly installed chests, thus pushing the walls outward. A desperate attempt to remedy the situation, was to install a series of diagonally placed 2x4s on the outside of the expression box wall, to the wall of of the building. Second hand chests have been utilized. Some are a good match to the pipes, some chests have several stops scattered on them, and the racking often does not fit the pipes, being too tight, too loose, or not holding the pipes vertical. Newly run wind trunks of paper tubing and PVC fly through the air, many being held on their flanges with foil tape, and are in the path of the technician. Some newly added ranks have no access for tuning. Some newly added pipes are racked in such a way that they lean heavily. Drywall screws have been used to secure heavy members and racking. A new solid state relay has been installed, which piggybacks the Moller EP relay and switching. -Database Manager
