2012-09-15 - Updated through online information from Stephen Cumming. -- The organ is currently playable, but is in very fragile condition due to lack of regular maintenance through the years. The organ originally was in a free standing case with the facade pipes composed of the Great 8' Diapason (speaking). When the organ was moved to the new building in 1962, the organ was basically divided in half and placed into two chambers - the Great/Pedal chamber open, and the Swell chamber with expression shutters. When the organ was moved, some of the chests were converted from tubular pnuematic action to a direct electric action. The organ has a beautiful Diapason chorus, with a very bold ensemble sound. It is more than adequate to lead congregational singing in our present building - which fortunately has very good acoustics. The church is hoping to be able to rebuild the organ eventually to its original state. The firm that moved the organ from the old building to the present building in 1962 was the R.O. Rowe Organ Company, an independent company located in Dallas, TX. This update is current as of September 2012. -Database Manager
