2020-08-10 - In 1938, Mr. Arthur C. James, son the the late Mrs. Ellen S. James, donated a $15,400 Estey organ. It was to replace the Hook and Hastings organ installed in 1912 when the Chapel was built. With 42 stops, including chimes, and an echo division, it more adequately met the needs of the College. This organ was rebuilt and enlarged in 1953 by Andover Organ Company of Methuen, Massachusetts. However, by the early 1970s it was in a state of chronic disrepair, and a new organ was commissioned to be built in 1978. The organ was replaced in 1982 with a large Hellmuth Wolff tracker organ. -Nicholas Scott
