2023-01-25 - On December I I , 1947, Aeolian-Skinner drew a contract with the church for changes to the Kimball in the amount of $5,000. (A letter from Thompson to the Moller firm, dated August 20, 1947, indicates that he also considered this builder for the project.) Harrison again signed for the builder, and Charles C. McCurry, chairman of the board of trustees, for the church. Completion was to be by April 30, 1948. The Positiv department on 3½" wind pressure was to be as follows: 8' Cor de Nuit ("common spotted (French)," 61 pipes) 4' Prestant ("E[rnest] W[hite] 995 scale spotted," 61 pipes) 2⅔ Nazard ("Baroque spotted," 61 pipes) 2 Doublette ("Baroque spotted," 61 pipes) 1⅗ Tierce ("Baroque spotted," 61 pipes) III Cymbale (183 pipes) III Cymbale composition CC-BB 29-33-36 C0- f0 26-29-33 f'0- b0 22-26-29 c1-f1 19-22-26 f'1-f2 15-19-22 f'2-b2 12-15-19 c3-c4 8-12-15 Scale 49 at 8' C (i.e., CC); ¼ mouth; ½ on 18th The other arrangements in the paragraph above were done as Thompson wrote, except that the Positiv would couple through to the Pedal if either the Positiv to Swell or the Positiv to Great coupler was drawn. The pipes withdrawn from the Kimball organ became the property of Aeolian-Skinner. The contract and its $500 down payment were received in Boston by year's end. The final bill for opus 1035-A, which was due when the instrument was completed, was issued on April 6. On April 13 Harrison acknowledged settlement of the account. Eli Lilly wrote Thompson on May 3 that a plaque for the memorial organ would meet the approval of the family.
