2020-11-09 - From the NYC AGO NYC Organ Project: Featherbed Lane Presbyterian Church was founded in 1921 by Rev. Dr. Robert Bruce Clark. Ground was broken for the present church on March 26, 1927, and the cornerstone was laid on October 15 that same year. Designed by Gamble Rogers, the Georgian-style structure is built of brick with limestone trim. The sanctuary originally seated 500, plus another 400 when the adjacent Sunday school was opened into the church. The facility cost $250,000 and was built with the financial assistance of the Church Extension Committee of the Presbytery of New York. The organ in Featherbed Lane Presbyterian Church was built in 1927 by M.P. Möller of Hagerstown, Md. Möller installed the pipes and mechanism in a chamber behind and above the elevated choir loft at the front of the church. The following stoplist is taken from the three-manual stopkey console, while the pipecounts are suggested, based on similar Möller organs of the era. As of 2011, the organ needs repair but is playable and used for services. -Jeff Scofield
