2008-03-01 - Updated through online information from James R. Stettner. -- In 1975, the Möller firm releathered the organ, unfortunately with Perflex. Some tonal changes/additions were also made at this time. In 1982, the organ was again releathered by Möller - replacing the Perflex valves. A new drawknob console was also provided at this time, though still electro-pneumatically operated. The organ is in two chambers on either side of the chancel - with Great, Choir, and part of the Pedal on the left; and the Swell and balance of the Pedal on the right. The chambers have openings into both the chancel and the sanctuary. The sanctuary grilles are very ornate plaster grilles, but block much of the tonal egress. Identical grilles were originally over the chancel openings, but were replaced in 1972 to improve tonal egress. Source: phone conversation 2/29/08 with organist Marjorie Young. -Database Manager
