2013-07-01 - Updated through online information from William Dunklin. -- Wurlitzer opus 1806 was a style E-X Special. E means a stock model organ of 2 manuals, 7 ranks and percussions. X means it was built to be installed in 2 chambers. "Special" indicates something customized for this particular installation. David Junchen's book "The Wurlitzer Pipe Organ, an Illustrated History" indicates that this organ's console was customized with extra blank stop tabs. Whether this was for a possible future expansion or just for show is a detail probably forever lost to history. -Database Manager
