Notes

2008-02-14 - Identified through online information from Jesse Fulton. -- This organ was removed in 1954, and replaced by Austin 2209. Many of the Johnson pipes were installed in the Austin. A note in our archives from 1954 quotes a Mr. John vanV. Elsworth, an organ restorer and enthusiast of Watertown, NY: "According to my records and list, the instrument in your church is Opus No. 135, the final organ of the year 1862, so it was likely installed in January of 1863. It is listed as a 2 manual of 39 registers, which in those days included couplers, Tremolo and Bass stops. "This is all the more interesting to me because I believe this instrument to be the largest 2 manual which Johnson built. The next largest is the fine 2 manual in the Baptist Church in Shelburne Falls, Mass., and yours exceeds this by 9 or 10 registers." -Database Manager
