2008-03-01 - Identified through online information from James R. Stettner. -- The organ remained intact until 1977 when amateur organ builders drastically altered and damaged 10 ranks in an attempt to modernize the sound of the organ. Funds are being sought to restore the organ. -Database Manager

2019-03-09 - Edwin Erst submitted the photograph of his paternal grandfather Stephen A. Erst at the console of the St. Ignatius organ and relates that Stephen designed and built the organ with Kilgen during his tenure as organist and choir director at St. Ignatius, up until his death in 1956. -Database Manager
2023-07-23 - St. Ignatius closed in July, 2022 after the Archdiocese of Chicago decided to merge its services and congregation with two other nearby parishes: St. Gertrude at 1420 W. Granville Ave., and St. Jerome at 1709 W. Lunt Ave. Fate of the organ is presently unknown. -Jim Stettner
2024-09-25 - This is from the Chicago Chapter of the OHS. Our Chapter learned of the planned closing by June 30, 2021 of the St. Ignatius R.C. parish located in the Rogers Park neighborhood of Chicago. In celebration of their four manual George Kilgen & Son pipe organ (Opus 3319, 1924), the Chapter sponsored a member’s recital on this historical instrument on Sunday, June 6, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. before an enthusiastic audience. -- email received 2024-09-23 -Paul R.
