2008-09-27 - Updated through online information from Wayne Heidelberg. -- I received this e-mail from Brian Murphy, in response to my request for information about the organ:

Dear Mr. Heidelberg, It gives me much joy to tell you yes, the organ is still quite playable and is in satisfactory condition. I played it myself last Sunday in fact. The area around West Capitol Street has become quite unsafe over the past few decades. The church has almost had to shut down a few times. But thankfully, things are better now than in years past. Membership and attendance is slowly rising. The organ itself is fine, with the exception of a few tuning needs. The console is in need of work. The pedal and great stops will not automatically push out even though it is preset. I am relatively new to the church, having only been serving for about a year. Hopefully, we will be able to get the console repaired soon. I do not think the church has enough money to get the console replaced. We have had to replace all our air conditioning units throughout the building, costing the church much money. But the Moeller organ is still being played each week. And as long as I have anything to stay about it, it will continue to be played. Thank you for your concern, Brian Murphy -Database Manager

Jackson, Mississippi Calvary Baptist Church Möller Op. 7800 1948 4/46 Pipe scales to be used are to be large enough so that later, when the auditorium is enlarged from one-fourth to one-third of its present size, the organ can be reregulated, in order that the volume will be thoroughly adequate for the enlarged building.
