2008-05-02 - Identified through on-line information from don belben. -- The organ was located in the center of the chancel, directly under the rose window. There was a hand pump on one side of the case, but at some point an electric motor was added to supply the wind. The previous instrument, installed about the time of the newer building in 1872, was probably a large reed organ as the church files stated it sounded rather wheezy. Only about half of the 11 Lynn Methodist churches had pipe organs at one time. The Maple St. pipe organ was replaced in 1948 by an electronic. The church closed in 2004. This info came from the late Minnie Burtt Hartmann, organist of church from 1927 to 1971. -Database Manager
