Notes

2008-05-15 - Identified through information from Robert Overstreet: The organ was purchased about 1955 for approximately $5,000. For many years there was only the yearly tuning of the organ (4 ranks) based on Moellers original design of its "cabinet organ", but in this case installed in an enclosure for this organ. Some years ago the then organist interested in early electronically produced sounds decided to enlarge on the organ and so took much time and his own money to add additions to the organ which included a "console" of stops attached to one side of the console and large speakers placed inside the already crowded organ chamber. When I moved to this area 17 years ago in retirement from Annapolis I inherited what had become a deteriorating system of electronics and I ceased to use any of it. Moreover the speakers were not high-intensity and most had begun to disintegrate. At that time I chose a different person in tuning and maintenance with years of experience who also had with him his younger associate who is an absolute genius with regard to pipe organs. They inspected the entire organ and, in spite of age, no releathering was deemed necessary. It was then that we began to assess upgrading and perhaps enlargement of the organ. -Database Manager
