East Worcester, New York First Baptist Church Derrick & Felgemaker, 1866 Compass: 56/25 This is an early version of the patented Derrick & Felgemaker portable organ. The pipes are locked into position on the windchest to keep them in position during possible rough transport. Metal pipes of spotted metal, winded by pumping lever or foot pumping treadle. 2 3/4" pressure. Expression pedal has no hitch position and must be held open by the right foot. The pedals are permanently coupled to the manuals. Could possibly be second-hand to this church and the organ is identical in appearance to a Derrick & Felgemaker portable visible in a turn of the century photo of the Baptist Church in West Oneonta, an organ long gone but which was an original installation at that location. MANUAL (enclosed) 8' Open Diapason 39 pipes (t.f.) 8' Vienna Flute 39 pipes (t.f., stopped wood) 8' Viola d'Gamba 39 pipes (t.f.) 8' Stopped Bass 17 pipes (CC-e17, stopped wood) 4' Bass Flute 25 pipes (CC-c25) Harmonics 19 notes (octave coupler from c25-g43) Pedal Coupler (actually a pedal check) [Received from Scot Huntington 2014-08-31.]
