Ellicottville, New York
St. John's Episcopal Church

“Narthex” Organ: James Jackson and Son, New York built 1834 (builder’s plate) (purchased used in 1837)

Sticker action similar to a melodeon

One manual –short compass
8’ Stopped Diapason Bass
8’ Stopped Diapason Treble
8’ Dulciana
(8’?) Principal

The organ is pumped with a foot pedal which is inoperative due to a fatigue crack
in the bell crank that drives the feeder. The organ has a set of display pipes
that, while dumb, are actual pipes voiced so slow that they do not speak.
Pipework is made of common metal and an unidentified soft wood. The stoppers are
hand carved rather than lathe turned.
