2014-08-31 - Updated through online information from Timothy E. Conyers. -- This instrument has been moved and reinstalled twice since its original installation. Each time the St. Mark's Episcopal congregation took the instrument with them to a new location. St. Mark's Episcopal Church began holding worship services in 1953 at the Plainfield Carnegie Library. In 1955, they purchased the Plainfield Christian Church building, a historic 1865 building of hand-fired brick, painted white, located on North Center Street. The Episcopal congregation added the first pipe organ in Plainfield to this building. In 1987, the congregation relocated to another old church building at 301 South Center Street.
