2008-08-06 - Identified through on-line information from James R. Stettner. -- The Möller was originally built for First Congregational in Billings. It was moved to the new [present] church. When a new Holtkamp was installed there in 1973, the Möller was sold to St. Patrick's. The Great was installed in a free-standing "chamber" on the right side of the gallery. The Swell was installed in the tower chamber. The Great shutters open into the nave, but not the gallery. The Swell shutters open into the gallery, but not the nave. A hole was cut into the side of the Great enclosure to allow the choir and organist to more clearly hear that division - which has compromised the effectiveness of the expression shutters. A "new" (?) 4' Octave and 2' Fifteenth were added to the Swell. The Pedal 16' Bourdon is in the Great chamber. Documented: October 11, 1996. -Database Manager

It was removed in 1973 when the Co-Cathedral purchased a used M.P. Möller from First Congrega- tional Church in Billings when they acquired a new Holtkamp organ. The Morton was sold to Atonement Lutheran Church in Billings, but has since been removed from that church as well. The used 1928 Möller from First Congregational was installed in the rear gallery with the Great on the right in a newly-built chamber, and the Swell on the left in the original chamber. The Great expression louvers open into the nave, but no egress directly to the gallery. The Swell louvers open into the gallery, but no direct egress into the nave. A hole had been cut into the side of the Great enclosure to allow the organist and choir to better hear the Great, but this reduced the effect- iveness of the Great expression. The Swell 4' Octave and 2' Fifteenth were added and are not original.
