2008-09-16 - Identified through on-line information from James R. Stettner. -- This was a project of increasing the Swell chest to full-compass (56) from tenor C (44). Six note channels were added to each end of the chest. This changed it from its original "A" chest configuration to a "W" configuration. All stops were extended to full-compass except the 8' Hautboy. At this time, an 8' Vox Humana was also added to the back of the Swell chest. The swellbox was enlarged, but the shutter opening was not. A Swell to Pedal coupler was added during this project - making use of the Great to Pedal drawknob. This necessitated moving the Great to Pedal coupler to a reversible foot trundle. At some point in time, the foot trundle combination pedals were also added, but the exact time is not known. Similarly, the original hitch-down swell mechanism was converted to a balanced system. This may have been done during the ca. 1870 work. Source: notes by Bob Newton of the Andover Organ Co. -Database Manager
