2013-05-28 - Updated through online information from steve bartley. -- Baltimore only had one St. Andrew Catholic church. Built in 1878. It is conceivable that a pipe organ was installed at the time of or soon after the building was opened. No mention in the Sun Paper nor by contemporary builders. This usually meant that a 2nd hand organ was installed. No John Baldwin organ builder existed in Baltimore, though there was an auctioneer by this name. This does not mean that such an organ did not exist, just no contemporary evidence. In 5/12/984 pg 10 The Sun paper announced a new organ for St. Andrew's built by the Maryland Church and Concert Organ Company. It provided some details. 2 manuals of 61 notes,Pedal of 27 notes, 11 stops,491 pipes, 5 couplers, cost $2,000, 4 mechanical accessories, 3 pedal movements, casework of oak. This organ was moved to St. Thomas Lutheran Church, pulaski street in the 1970s by Tom Eader. St. Andrew's was closed in 1973 and demolished. -Database Manager
