Notes

2008-12-20 - Identified through information published in John Ferguson's Walter Holtkamp: American Organ Builder (DMA treatise, Eastman School of Music, 1976). Although neither Votteler-Holtkamp-Sparling nor their successor Holtkamp Organ Co. assigned Opus numbers to their instruments, this organ was identified in factory documents as Job number 1571. That number appears here as the Opus number of this instrument. -Database Manager

2010-03-29 - Updated through on-line information from James R. Stettner. -- The two Great ranks: 8' Open Diapason and 4' Principal, along with the Pedal 16' Bourdon were unexpressive. The remaining five ranks of the Swell were under expression. -Database Manager

2019-02-06 - Updated by James R. Stettner, listing this web site as a source of information: https://dailystandard.com/archive/2012-04-13/stories/17753/holtkamp-organ-to-receive-national-award.

According to an online article about the Holtkamp at St. Charles Senior Living Center in Carthagena, Ohio, \"The other organ was housed at the former Brunnerdale seminary. The organ was moved to St. Joseph College in Rensselaer, Ind., when Brunnerdale was sold in 1989, said St. Charles resident the Rev. Ralph Verdi, C.PP.S., who spent many years teaching in the music department of St. Joseph\'s.\" -Database Manager

2021-01-03 - Brother Ben S. Basile, C.PP.S. also had this to say about the Brunnerdale Holtkamp Organ (July 30 2012): "There is a stop, the 'Ludwigtone' on the Brunnerdale instrument, but it was not named for anyone in our community. The Ferguson book on Holtkamp mentions that the stop was named for a monk sometime in the first decade of the 1900's and used in organs of the Holtkamp firm from that time through about 1940." -Steve Repasky

Stoplist

In 1989 when Brunnerdale seminary closed, the organ was moved to St. Charles Living Center of The Precious Blood Society, (C. PP.S), Carthagena, Ohio. Source: From Holtkamp Organ Company archive 1932 in Holtkamp shop archive
