Notes

2008-12-20 - Identified through information published in John Ferguson's Walter Holtkamp: American Organ Builder (DMA treatise, Eastman School of Music, 1976). Although neither Votteler-Holtkamp-Sparling nor their successor Holtkamp Organ Co. assigned Opus numbers to their instruments, this organ was identified in factory documents as Job number 1610. That number appears here as the Opus number of this instrument. -Database Manager

2016-04-03 - Updated through online information from William M. Worden.
I played this organ while I was in high school at St. Ignatius across the street; by that time (1960-64) the parish was closed and the church functioned as a chapel for the high school. It was always my understanding that the instrument was a rebuild of a much older organ, perhaps by Felgemacher, but that's not certain.

Some of the stops were unlikely for Holtkamp in 1940 (I remember a Dolce Cornet.) The case was clearly from a much older instrument and had evidence of an previous attached console front and center. When the church was demolished, I inquired about the organ and was told it had been given away and used for parts. -Database Manager
