Notes

2006-09-06 - Updated through online information from David Kinyon. -- Nobody really knows what happened to this instrument. The two legends say that either it was revoiced and moved to Knox College as a practice instrument shortly before the old church was demolished, or it was destroyed with the church. -Database Manager

2016-01-01 - Updated through online information from Ronald Crowl.
When Grace Church abandoned its original building just off downtown Galesburg and built a new, modern structure, the Pilcher organ was dismantled, crated and stored in the new building with the intent that the pipework would be used as the basis for a new instrument in the new building. This plan never materialized; funds were never available for the organ project.

The parts and pieces were sold to a gentleman from Peoria, IL, who presumably used the pipework in other projects and discarded the remainder of the instrument. The parish suffered from Episcopalian/Anglican divisions, and the congregation occupying the building aligned themselves with the Anglican group. The remaining parishioners hold Episcopal services in Central Congregational Church, right off the square in downtown Galesburg. -Database Manager
