2009-06-15 - Identified through online information from James R. Stettner. -- According to descriptions in the dedication program, this organ was originally built by Dutch organ builder Ernst Leeflang for the Dutch Reformed Church in Marrum, The Netherlands. The church closed and was demolished in 2002. The organ was removed from that church by Kaat en Tijhuis Orgelmakers and stored. Sold to St. Mark's, it was rebuilt without tonal changes. The console originally had a type of Freie Kombination combination action which was replaced with a new solid state system. No tonal changes were made at the time of installation, but the only reed -- an 8' Schalmei -- is scheduled to be replaced in Nov. or Dec. 2009 with a new 16' Trompet which will add 3 new speaking stops to the organ. The dedication was played Sunday, June 9, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. by David P. Dahl. The varied program included the first public performance of Dahl's 'Variations on New Britain ("Amazing Grace")' composed this year. -Database Manager
