Notes

2009-06-20 - Identified through on-line information from Jeff Scofield. A very unusual coupler was "Bourdon 16 Pédale au Anches." -Database Manager

2009-11-04 - Updated through on-line information from John W. Tremblay. -- One of the unique details of this instrument is that each division was under separate expression by means of five dedicated pedals, plus a register crescendo pedal. These were controlled, in turn, by selector switches at the treble ends of the manuals which theoretically permitted controlling any set of shades from any shoe. In an instrument of this size, this could be considered something of an embarrassment of riches, and might complicate the playing unnecessarily. Per the Canadian web site "Orgues du Canada," the expression shades were removed from the Grand Orgue at some time after the instrument was built. I have seen specifications for two other small four-manual Casavants built along these, or similar, lines - Holy Canadian Martyrs in Victorville, since replaced, and St. Jude's Shrine in Montreal, in which latter instrument the Anches division is one unified rank, and in which the Grand Orgue and Pedale are not under expression. -Database Manager
