2010-12-09 - Updated through on-line information from Dan Smith. -- Original manual chests by OSI. Positive chest was destroyed by water in mid 90's and replaced by identical chest also from OSI. new chest was later again damaged by water and re-leathered. Some occasional issues remain as a result of water damage. All chest leather was replaced in early 1990's by another technician. Leather was of inappropriate thickness and the key action became slow or un-responsive. Primary pouches were replaced with correct leather thickness and the organ again became playable. Most of the chest problems have been "worked out" over the years although occasionally issues show up. Organ is now showing signs of age in the switching system. Dry air in chapel contributes to cyphers during winter. Considering what this organ has been through, it's doing quite nicely. -Database Manager
2011-07-25 - Updated through online information from Charles Hoilman. -- I began my study of the organ with Dr. John R. Shannon at Sweet Briar. In 1978-9 I served as the Chapel organist while the College organist was on sabbatical. During a recent visit to the campus on 7/23/2011 I had an opportunity to play this instrument. It seems to be in reasonably good condition and playable. -Database Manager
