2010-04-27 - Updated through on-line information from Tom Scheck. -- This organ is tonally unaltered. Following is from a church publication: "This organ was originally tubular-pneumatic for Manuals and Pedals with a Mechanical Swell Pedal. In 1999, Mark W. Steiner of Steiner-Murphy Organ company of Cumberland, Maryland, converted the action to Direct-Electric for the Manual Chest and Electro-Pneumatic for the Pedal Bourdon and Great Open Diapason # 1-17. A Peterson Solid-State switching system was installed, along with a Peterson Duo-Set Combination Action, using the original piston holes for the new Pistons and new Toe Studs were added. The original mechanical Swell Pedal was kept intact and a new Crescendo mechanism was installed. All the original Manual and Pedal Keys were retained, springs added to the Manuals and Contact Blocks and Plates added to the Manuals and Pedal Keys. The original rosewood stop knobs were retained and installed on Peterson Power Knob units. All Pipework from the 1917 instrument was retained, all metal pipework was cleaned, repaired and regulated at Eastern Organ Pipes in Hagerstown, Maryland. The original facade of which 17 are speaking pipes was repaired and repainted at Eastern Organ Pipes. All the wooden pipework was repaired and stoppers repacked at Steiner-Murphy Organ Company." -Database Manager
