2017-06-13 - Updated by James R. Stettner, who gave this as the source of the information: Carl R. Ziebell announced on Saturday, June 10, 2017 in the Facebook group Wisconsin Organ Scene that the church is closing and will have a final closing service on Sunday, June 11. An online history of the church (http://www.sjw-zkclutherans.com/site/cpage.asp?sec_id=180016294&cpage_id=180080408) states, "For the sum of $778 a new pipe organ, which is still in use today, was installed in church in 1907." -Database Manager
2021-03-27 - Updated through online information from Andrew Schaeffer. -- The town of Herman purchased the parish school building next door for use as a town hall. Due to the high cost of demolition, they have elected to simply close the church and allow nature to take its toll. Further complicating demolition is the fact that the former parsonage next door, which is now privately owned, shares a water well with the church and school, so if the church is demolished, the town would have to build a new well, or so the city clerk told me. Despite four years of sheer neglect, this redoubtable Hinners organ fires right up, and plays like it just left Illinois. Simply remarkable. -Andrew Schaeffer
