2020-01-03 - The cathedral burned March 30, 1929; because to a lack of funds due to the Great Depression, a replacement cathedral wasn't completed until 1969 and only a crypt church was built and masses were held in the crypt church until that time; Op. 1574 was installed behind a pipe fence on the front wall to the left of the altar of the crypt church; the new cathedral, renamed Cathedrale du Christ-Roi, didn't receive another pipe organ until a monastery donated Casavant Op. 2894 (1966) in 1993. -Database Manager
2021-03-03 - In 1993 the organ was donated by the nuns at the Augustine Monastery in Havre-de-Gaspé to the Cathédrale-du-Christ-Roi, Gaspé; it was moved by Casavant, where it was installed in a corner at the rear of the room; a 16' Doucaine was added to the Pedale in 1994. The cathedral is the only wooden cathedral in North America. -Jeff Scofield
