2010-08-29 - Updated through online information from Stephen Hall. -- Original Farrand & Votey organ at Christ Church (Episcopal) in Nashville was III/15 with several ranks prepared for in the console and chambers. The organ had approximately 27 ranks by 1930 added by either Farrand & Votey or by Orla D. Allen, a former employee who later worked as a builder/service man in the area. Later additions were made by Pilcher, Moller, A. W. Brandt, and Milnar. The organ had 49 ranks when it left Christ Church, two additional ranks including the Trompette en Chamade were made for its installation at the university. Although less than half the pipes and little of the mechanism are original, the University still refers to it as a Farrand & Votey organ. It is in active use for chapel services and teaching and regularly scheduled recitals as of August 2010. -Database Manager
